Jewelry Care Tips

All of Wailani Jewelry & Beauty's jewelry pieces are crafted by hand, and are therefore delicate by nature.  After years of making jewelry, here's a list of helpful tips compiled to help you best treat your jewelry pieces with care and improve their longevity.

  • When storing your jewelry, keep each piece separate, ideally in its original box. Gold, silver, and other metal can scratch each other, and stones can easily scratch when they hit one another.

  • Softer stones are more fragile so take special care not to bang them on hard surfaces or drop them.

  • Silver jewelry can tarnish over time, so keep each piece in a small zipped plastic bag when not in frequent use.  Also, a handy trick to keep jewelry chains from tangling is to keep a small piece of the chain hanging out of the zipped bag.

  • Take care not to yank on chain necklaces, as they are meant to be worn resting against the neck and chest gently.

  • Keep your jewelry away from chemicals.

  • If your jewelry needs a good cleaning, you can take it to your local jeweler to have it professionally cleaned, or use a common jewelry cleaner.  Just make sure that the bottle clearly says you can use it for your particular metal and/or stone.

  • Lastly, enjoy your jewelry!  It was made by hand, especially for you!
